Cask Whisky Market set for 'rocket growth' over the next 5 Years

Oct 18, 2021 6:23:40 PM / by Charles Agutter

A global survey conducted to provide a range of qualitative and quantitative performance / forecast analysis for the Scotch Whisky Market, and comparing it with data from manufacturers of other spirits including: gin, rum and vodka; has found that Scotch Whisky is, by far, the Spirit industry's leading performer across a range of key historical and future forecast metrics.

Those polled came from a variety of established & emerging players in the spirits market, including: Bacardi, Beam Suntory, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, William Grant & Sons, Aceo, Ben Nevis Distillery, Brown-Forman, Edrington, Glenmorangie, George Ballantine Son, Gordon & MacPhail, Harvey’s of Edinburgh, International Beverages and Isle of Arran Distillers.

The survey found that whilst the covid-19 pandemic has made many spirit manufacturers unsure about the future, distillers and blenders of Scotch Whisky remain bullish about the growth outlook for their products, with many citing recent sales figures, indicating that consumers rediscovered their love of Scotch, during the long months of lockdown in 2020.

The analysis also highlights the rising popularity of blended scotch among younger consumers globally, with whisky-based cocktails increasingly challenging the recent trend in emerging craft / independent gin, rum and vodka brands.

These factors appear to be helping make Scotch Whisky both a recession-proof and a pandemic-proof investment. And as such, the cask market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

Invest in Cask Whisky with an Experienced Broker

The Scottish Whisky Association, which represents Scotch Whisky Distillers and Blenders, published guidance last year, on what to think about when considering a personal investment in cask whisky. One of their key recommendations to investors was, 'speak to an established Whisky Broker', in order to help navigate complexities of the market.

So, What Will The Wine Market Look Like in 2020?

Fine Wine Investment: 4 Fundamental Rules to Success

There are only four fundamental ways to invest successfully in wine.

Investor behavior is determined not just by rational risk-return considerations, but also by hidden psychological biases that influence individuals to make less than optimal decisions.

Why do individual investors often ignore lucrative opportunities?

This behavior poses a conundrum, or seems irrational – and that’s because it is.

Alternative Investments pose an interesting paradox:  with the consistent growth and often tax-free capital gains these assets consistently deliver, why aren’t more  individual investors participating in the market to reap outsized rewards with relatively low risk?
